About the Speaker

Lee Mei Wah (Myra)

Early Intervention Teacher

Myra has worked in the special needs sector for 8 years. With a strong passion in this industry, she started off as a behavioural therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and subsequently went on to support teenagers with diverse needs. She has also taught academic subjects to children with Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder who were in mainstream schools. Following that, Myra moved on to be a full time Early Intervention Teacher.

Myra is trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA), Functional Behavioural Analysis (FBA) and Discrete Trial Training (DTT) methods. She is also equipped with the skills to conduct naturalistic teaching and believes that generalization of skills is essential for their learning. Myra utilizes different methods based on the needs and learning styles of the children. Having supported children and teenagers of diverse needs from past experiences, Myra is equipped with the knowledge and skills to facilitate the learning of these children.

Myra believes in positive behaviour management strategies and the importance of helping children experience success in their learning. She employs differentiated instruction in her teaching and breaks down the concepts and skills according to the level of the child, while adjusting the level of scaffolding based on the progress of the child.
