Cheryl graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) of Social Sciences in Psychology from NTU and has been working with children with special needs at MindChamps Allied Care since she was an undergraduate. Through the years, she has gained experience in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Global Developmental Delay, hearing impairment, and various other developmental and behavioural disorders as well.
In the classroom, Cheryl utilises various age-appropriate tools for optimal engagement with Champs in her classroom. She has had the opportunity to gain more skills via informal workplace trainings and has worked well with children who require the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Cheryl has also acquired skills to manage and help children who struggle with emotional regulation. She believes that it is important to recognize each Champs’s specific learning needs and is adept at curating individualised plan as well as utilising different strategies and group dynamics amongst the Champs to help them to achieve their learning goals and objectives.
Outside the classroom, Cheryl works closely with parents, caregivers and other stakeholders to foster an inclusive environment best suited for a child’s learning and developmental needs.
