Elvea Candera

Associate Psychologist

Elvea is an Associate Psychologist who has had experience in working closely with children and adolescents with intellectual disability and social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. She was with a Special Education School for 4 years and on a regular basis, she delivers intervention programmes in line with Positive Behaviour Support theories. She also regularly conducts group therapy programmes that focus on developing social and emotional regulation skills.

 

She also has experience in administering Cognitive assessments and Adaptive Behaviour assessments. Elvea also has familiarity in producing relevant reports such as Psychological Reports, Assessments for the Mental Capacity Act, and Behaviour Reports for her students to proceed with their High Needs Grant applications.

 

A volunteer with the Victim Care Cadre programme, she helps to support trauma victims-of-crime as part of police investigations and provide psychological first-aid and emotional support to victims.

 

Elvea also completed internships at different organisations such as the Institute of Mental Health, Ministry of Social and Family Development, and WeeCare. She also worked as an Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) Therapist where she worked with children of various special needs such as ADHD, ASD and Asperger’s Syndrome and conducted home-based one-to-one ABA therapy sessions for children with special needs.

  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours, Distinction) from the National University of Singapore.

  • Diploma in Child Psychology & Early Education (Merit) from Ngee Ann Polytechnic

  • Recipient of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Scholarship.
